ENGINEERING AND DEVELOPMENT FOR PRODUCTS MADE IN MECC2000

Modern filtration technology requires a multidisciplinary approach based on knowledge of materials science, chemistry, mathematical modeling, mechanical and process engineering and production technologies: skills and experience consolidated in the DNA of the MECC2000 Filtration division.

Our filtration technologies are developed and produced internally thanks to the team of professionals who work directly in MECC2000 workshop  , thus ensuring a high level of quality and customization throughout the production chain.

TYPES OF MECC2000 FILTERS

DRUM FILTERS
Rotary drum filters are used in many applications where the feed the so called Bottom Feed mode. To avoid settling of the solids before they come into contact with the rotating drum, divided into special sectors to which the vacuum is applied, an agitation system is installed.

The types of cake discharge can be different depending on the application to be treated.

  • Blade discharge filters: the drain consists of a scraping blade in contact with the drum that scrapes the cake from the drum. In some cases, in the area before the blade, a “blow” is applied with a pressure slightly greater than that of operation to help the detachment of the panel.
  • Roller discharge filters: used if the panel is a few millimeters thick. A roller placed near the drum at an adjustable distance rotates at a significantly higher speed so as to detach the panel.
  • Filters with external roll cloth: the filter cloth is not all integral with the drum, but comes out by rotating on an external roller, unloading the panel.
  • Precoat filters: chosen to polish solutions that have a low content of insoluble contaminants. To filter the solution, the drum is coated with a product that acts as a filter element (precoat) with materials sorted according to their permeability and particle size.

DEWAXING/DEOILING FILTERS
In Lube Oil Complexes the physical wax removal process takes place by crystallization and use of solvents such as MEK, Tolouene, MIBK and other types of filters such as Propane Dewaxing according to ASME VIII. This technique also involves the special design of rotary drum filters to meet the high process and operational requirements.

MECC2000 has manufactured Dewaxing/Deoiling filters up to 96 m2, taking care of every detail, starting from the analysis of the process and ensuring high performance both with high and low immersion of the drum in the feedstock with which it is fed.

A careful study of the filter valve, combined with the optimization of the washing system, is carried out by our experts to ensure a high efficiency yield.

The consolidated experience MECC2000 allows to analyze existing and dated Lube Oil, proposing improvements in terms of process performance and reliability of the old system.

Thanks to our highly qualified team of engineers, we carry out Reverse Engineering so that we can also provide replacements for old drums.

We supply wire from diameter 1.82 mm to 2.32 mm with materials in:

  • Stainless Steel 302-304-316 according to ASTM A313
  • Music wire according to ASTM A228.
  • The wire is wounded coil to coil and without joints by using equipment owned by MECC2000

HORIZONTAL FILTERS
Used for a so called Top Feed feeding, which eliminates the problem of fast sedimentation of some products to be filtered.

MECC2000 produces two types of horizontal filters:

  • Continuous with drainage belt composed of a special elastomer: they give greater flexibility being able to operate from cake thicknesses between values of 5 mm to 40 mm, within a wide range of particulate sizes and also giving the possibility of carrying out counter-current washes reducing the amount of washing required.
  • Indexing: used especially to filter thixotropic products and for palm oil filtration.

R&D: INNOVATION TAILORED TO NEEDS

To meet even the most complex needs, we carry out tests that produce detailed reports containing all the necessary data to be able to size a filter on an industrial scale. Among them:

  • Composition of the product to be filtered.
  • Particulate size
  • Density
  • Temperature
  • Flow rate
  • Ph

The  laboratory tests can be carried out at  the MECC2000 laboratory or directly in the plant by our process engineers.
